Chris Cooper

Global Technical Lead for Skill Systems - British Council

The British Council supports peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and countries worldwide. Chris leads its Technical and Vocational Education and Training work. This supports countries improve the relevance and inclusiveness of their TVET systems and provides new opportunities and partnerships for the UK.

Chris is an economist with 30 years’ experience of working in the skills sector. He started his career in strategy and labour market analysis within Training and Enterprise Councils before working as a consultant in skills policy, research and evaluation for 15 years. At the British Council he has led work which has shared UK expertise and supported UK partnerships in more than 30 countries such as India, S Africa, Nepal, Morocco, Vietnam, Malaysia and Ghana.  He currently represents the British Council on the UK Skills Partnership which aims to coordinate the UK Skills Sector’s international messaging and provide a voice to government about the sector’s international ambitions.
