Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority
As a Cambridgeshire resident, businessman, District Council leader and County Councillor, James has a track record which sets him apart – proof he is able to deliver as the first Mayor of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. James entered local politics in 2007 and, as leader of East Cambs, he made it his mission to create a more business-like and business-friendly council. Business growth in the area was 12% last year. James is leading one of the six innovative employment schemes to benefit thousands of disadvantaged people after the £35 million funding recently announced by the Department for Work and Pensions. This will include the creation of the ‘Health and Care Sector Progression Academy’ to train social care workers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
